Introducing My Friendship Book: A New Shared Tradition for Canadian Families

Today, we are so excited to introduce two projects we’ve been diligently working on for the better part of 2024 - My Friendship Book and Share This Book.  

On a not-so-recent visit to Germany, we noticed this style of book floating around in kids’ backpacks and being passed around. With sparked curiosity, we learned that this was a well-known and loved tradition amongst kids in most of Northern Europe. 

What's My Friendship Book all about?  

My Friendship Book by Mountain West is a hardcover journal of sorts, passed around by the owner to their friends. Its creative questions and colourful layout create a space for children to share a bit about themselves, and also used quite practically by parents to have a sort of address book in order to organise playdates. Over time, as the book becomes thicker and thicker, it becomes a cherished collection of memories of the friends who made schooldays more fun.  

In the summer of 2022, the cogs started turning and we thought this would be a great addition to the Mountain West portfolio, but weren’t sure if this was a project we wanted to take on - but on second thought, why not? We’re in the business of capturing childhood memories and also produce the little photo stickers which go inside the book, so it was decided; the idea took flight! Flash forward to January 2024 when our designers and dedicated team started to flesh out some ideas. A lot of trial and error and testing on our little helpers and the books were finally starting to take shape.
